I picked up what looked to be a good resource on interviews:
Teacher Interviews: How to Get Them and How to Get Hired
I found the sections that talked discussed the interview portfolio and typical interview questions to be very helpful. It’s a good coaching tool, something to help me feel more prepared and confident. Much of the advice (ie, the “what to wear to your interview” section) was nothing new to me.
But the author did recommend this book:
Awakening Genius in the Classroom
Excellent information, and a quick little read. I agree wholeheartedly with the philosophy behind the book; that there are genius qualities inside every child, that we should be nurturing those qualities (things like creativity, wonder, joy, sensitivity) in the classroom instead of crushing them. What I’d like to see is a practical implementation guide to go along with it. A “here’s how to make these ideas work” book.
